What's the point of having a great video if nobody can watch it. Today, on Home Movie Film School, how to get your videos online and deliver them to your audience. So, you've edited an amazing video and you just know your friends and family are going to love it. What's next? Before you start clogging up inboxes with enormous video attachments, consider uploading your clip to a video sharing website like YouTube. This allows you to send links and post the video in various places without having to move around a lot of data. First things first, you've exported your video and now, you want to post it online. Figure out what video sharing service you want to go with, and research how to pot or upload videos. Usually the service will have a step-by-step guide on the site. Not all file types work with every service, so you might have to reexport video out of your editing program. A lot of editing programs have settings for specific streaming platforms. So, it might do the work for you. Some cameras and camcorders allow you to upload directly to Facebook and YouTube via WiFi. These services are improving everyday, so don't be intimidated, you can figure it out. When you upload your video to a video sharing website, your title and video description make your video searchable. Giving your movie a catchy title will attract new viewers. Another way to increase your traffic is by adding tags. These are keywords that associate with your video. So, if it's a holiday celebration video, write the holiday name as a tag, like Thanksgiving, why not also add turkey, pie and pumpkin, if they appear in the video. The title, description and tags will help people locate your video on the Internet. If you want to control who sees your video, most of these video streaming services have some sort of privacy setting functionality. You can use password protection or only make it viewable to certain accounts. These options are evolving everyday, so make sure to review them before you publish your video. Now that you have your movie published on a video sharing service, it's time to share your work. Interfaces like YouTube make it easy to share videos on a variety of social media platforms. On the video page, click the Share tab below the video. Then you'll see a short link to your video, which you can copy to the clipboard. And several buttons that allow you to directly post your video to social media sites like Facebook and Twitter. You can even send the video link directly via Email. There are numerous platforms in which you can share your video. Be sure to post it where your audience is most likely to see it. Remember, this video is a reflection of you. So, make sure what you're presenting is appropriate and worth sharing. If you want to put in the extra effort, I highly recommend personalizing your Emails and posts. That way your friends and family know just who made the video and that it means something to you. Feedback is the fun part. Read what people are saying abut your video. Reply to the comments and enjoy the interaction by taking in the positive feedback. Most importantly, share something that matters to you.
