Technically Speaking with Whitney, Part 1

Whitney: My name is Whitney and I am the founder and designer of Bikini Thief Swimwear. Bikini Thief is a swimwear apparel company first and foremost, but it is also a lifestyle brand, and I think the most important thing for us is emanating a lifestyle of health, wellness, self-love, and self-esteem to women. I made the decision to line all of my swimwear with words of inspiration to women. I love the idea that the last thing a woman sees as she’s putting on her bikini is just a little word or phrase or sentence to remind her that we’re all special. I moved away from the beach for a long time. It was just on a vacation that I was looking at a girl in a swimsuit, and the colors on the swimsuit and just how happy that simple thing made me, and it was literally in that moment that I was just like, “I want to design swimwear.” Without the technology of today Bikini Thief wouldn’t exist. The most valuable tools day-to-day for me are definitely my phone. I use my phone every day to check emails, do social media updates, call my PR company, speak with my showroom. Starting Bikini Thief has been an education. I’ve learned so much as I go. I’ve had to step in and play the part of so many people within the company. I always say life is a classroom. I have to run around. I’m meeting with venders. I’m meeting with my business partner, my manufacturer. I work from home, so it’s checking emails and then whatever is on the agenda for the day. Joanna: I have this super high profile client. She loves the Chloe style, but she asked me if you could customize that for her. Whitney: What do you think of this print? Joanna: I love that, but here’s the thing: she needs an answer by tonight. Whitney: That’s quick. Whitney: When Joanna told me we had 24 hours to pull this off, honestly, inside I was just like, “Not again!” Whitney: Hey Brad, it’s Whitney. Brad: Hey Whit, what’s going on? Whitney: I met with my publicist, Joanna, and she wants us to do a custom suit for her. Brad: Okay. Whitney: The catch is we need to get her something within the next 24 hours. Brad: The factories are full right now. They’re working on your other stuff. How can I stop that? Whitney: You’ve got the pattern. It’s one of our existing patterns and you’ve also got the fabric in-house. Honsetly, Brad, after the debacle that was this week, they owe me. Brad: Just let me talk to the team. That’s the best I can do at this point. Whitney: I anticipate that tomorrow is going to be a very long day, but one well worth it, hopefully. Whitney: All I ask is you try.
