7 Things You Can Do While Your Battery Charges

It's come to our attention that owners of the new Galaxy S®6 and Galaxy S®6 edge don't always know what to do with themselves when using Samsung's new fast charging feature. Watching a movie, let alone getting a full night's sleep while charging a phone, simply isn't an option anymore. To that end, we have compiled a list of suggestions to while away the minutes.

Before trying any of these recommendations, connect your Galaxy S®6 or Galaxy S®6 edge to any charger that supports adaptive fast charging or Quick Charge 2.0 and then turn off the phone. Fast charging doesn't work if your phone is turned on. In 10 minutes, your phone will be ready to go for up to four hours.*

1. Sort Those Socks

In the time it takes to fast charge the battery, take a bite out of the household chores, like sorting whites from colors or pairing socks. You won't have time to do a load of laundry though, sorry. Your phone will be charged before you get to the first rinse cycle.

2. Spaghetti Dinner Al Dente

Top chefs say that most pasta needs boiling for only eight minutes to reach that perfect chef-approved al dente consistency. Supposedly that's the state of pasta that's between crunchy and flaccid. Who are we to argue with professional chefs when we're hungry?

3. Get Your Zen On

Studies now suggest that even five to 10 minutes of meditation can help reduce stress and increase your overall quality of life. Who wouldn't want that? If you've already managed your stress, a power nap is always an option. Or maybe you could just floss your teeth.

4. Give Yourself a Makeover

Beauty experts claim it's easy to give yourself a basic makeover in less than 10 minutes. We know, right? But they're serious. Just do the basics, using a skin quencher and a liquid foundation and put on the finishing touches later. Guys, you can shave, or whatever it is you do in there for 10 minutes.

5. Play with Your Kids

With today's shortened attention spans, marathon board game sessions are going out of style anyway. One or two rounds of tic-tac-toe gives you the perfect amount of time for you and your children to "Power-Bond!". (Trademark may be pending, we haven't decided.) You can also work on a coloring book page together. Hide and seek is another good option, provided you live in a small house without too many hiding places.

6. Write a Letter

So many people rely on text messaging and email today that sending a hand-written letter is great way to tell a special friend or family member that you care more than most ever will. Get yourself a pen and find that nice stationary you bought a few years ago—it might be in the bottom left drawer of your desk—and sit down in a comfortable chair. Now, clear your mind and take a deep breath. Sorry, your phone's ready now. You might as well send that text.

7. Get Caught Up on Your TV

No, we're not suggesting you watch all 22 episodes of that TV show everyone is talking about, but actually traditional broadcast TV. Start fast charging your phone just after the climax of your favorite show. You'll be able to catch every commercial from the rolling credits right up to when the teaser of the next program begins. Most people waste this time making popcorn. On second thought, microwave popcorn? You could do that.

*Testing performed with in-box standard AFC charger. Charge percentage/time to charge based on charging starting at 0% battery charge. Usage time based on estimates. Battery power consumption depends on factors such as network configuration, carrier network, signal strength, operating temperature, features selected, vibrate mode, backlight settings, browser use, frequency of calls, and voice, data and other application-usage patterns. Your results may vary.
