Despite their endless busy-ness, the holidays provide lots of opportunity for year-end reflection. There's a strong likelihood you've benefited from the love and goodwill of the people around you this year, and this is a perfect time to show your appreciation. Here are a few ways you can give back to friends, family and the community at large.
1. Be a "Digital Host"
Getting everybody together in the same place at the same time can be a serious challenge. Give back to your absent—and present—family members by acting as a "digital host." Set up your favorite video chat app on your Galaxy Tab S2, and invite everyone who can't be there in person to join the fun.
2. Adopt a Cause
Whichever issue or cause is closest to your heart, one thing is almost certainly true: It needs money. Whenever you have a break over the holidays, pull out your smartphone and look up the websites of your favorite organizations. Set up a recurring monthly payment with your favorite, or have your smartphone's calendar prompt you each month to make a donation to a new charity.
3. Donate a Device
When you finish taking that shiny new Galaxy S6 edge+ out of the box, take a moment to consider what you'll do with your old smartphone. In most communities, you can find one or more organization that will pass along your "retired" smartphone or tablet to someone who needs it. It could be the most life-changing gift you give this year.
4. The Lost Art of Thank-You Notes
Sit down one night and scroll through your contact list. Ask yourself who's made a difference in your life this year—a co-worker perhaps, or a seldom-seen friend—and write a quick thank you note. If you have kids, use your tablet to keep track of which relative was responsible for each gift, and help your youngsters record a thank-you video. It's a nice touch, and a good habit for them to learn while they're young.
5. Organize an Event
If you really want to go the extra mile, organize an event in your community. Pick something that matches your management skills, from organizing a gift exchange or "Candy Cane Lane" to providing a no-charge holiday meal. Ride herd on your helpers through social media, or with a Galaxy-ready app such as SquareHub or Any.do.
